Mike is originally from Anchorage, Alaska and went to school in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from George Fox University with degrees in International Business and Economics as well as pastoral ministry. He is also a minister with the Wesleyan denomination in New Zealand, serving at his church in a voluntary capacity.
Mike has been serving in New Zealand since 2004, focussed on marketplace mission and community outreach, well-being and evangelism.. He co-founded and ran a New Zealand based Christian youth outreach organisation for nearly 20 years, developing partnerships with schools, churches, and local community groups in Auckland and across the country with the 24-7 Youthwork Network. With this work, he was dedicated to helping people find hope and wholeness and to addressing New Zealand’s high suicide rate by developing relationships between local churches and schools to provide in-school youth workers for young people. Mike looked after the community relationships, partnerships, training, and development of the ministry.
Mike now leads a team of New Zealand staff and volunteers dedicated to supporting churches to create a space where people are excited to bring their unchurched friends for a conversation about Jesus. The resources and tools are designed to take guests on a relational journey of faith over multiple weeks. Each session covers a key element of the gospel in a way that is easy to follow and leaves space for people to explore their questions about life, faith, and God in a non-judgmental and safe environment.
